Satoru Iwata

Next I will be writing about Satoru Iwata. For the first step in his career after completing college he joined a company named HAL Laboratory for a full time job. In 1983 he became the company’s co-ordinator of software production. Satoru has helped to create several games while he worked at HAL Laboratory; some of these games were Balloon Fight, Earthbound and many of the Kirby games. Later on in his life in 1993 he became promoted as the president of HAL Laboratory. Later on in the year 2000 Iwata managed to take a position at Nintendo as the head of its corporate planning division. When the previous president Hiroshi Yamauchi retired on May 31st 2002, Satoru was named the fourth president of Nintendo and the first person to become president outside Yamauchi’s bloodline or through marriage. Even though he is president of Nintendo he still continues to help HAL Laboratory. It is more than likely that Satoru still works as an artist at HAL Laboratory, still helping with the Kirby series (designing current design and new characters for the Kirby series). The latest project known outside the Nintendo Company is the Nintendo Wii and the Nintendo DSI.  Satoru has also worked with The Legend of Zelda and the Mario series.
Satoru has also created, what I think is one of the best games ever created is the Super Smash Bros series. This game includes many characters over the years created by Nintendo varying from The Legend of Zelda to an old classic Kid Icarus. In the recent games Satoru has managed to borrow permission from Sega to use Sonic the Hedgehog and Konami to borrow Snake from Metal Gear Solid. Cleverly he borrowed these characters to improve the sales of the Super Smash Bros saga by including many more characters. Super Smash Bros is known to be one of the biggest selling games ever created.
