Evaluation

Overall I think the piece of work I have managed to do for the design for the underwater scene is pretty standard compared to others. This is my first time I have properly worked with photoshop though so I have to admitt I'm quite proud of my work. It does lack in a few gaps but still a piece where merging many dragons together into one new dragon is quite satisfying. I could have worked more on the colouring to match but I find that hard to be honest. I think the shark is well positioned and everything matches the background. I think the anchor was too transparent and the chest is not enough. I hope this works well and you all approve of it (:.

THE Final Version

I have finally finished what I have started... the final version! I hope you lot will like it, i have used several tools with blur, sharpen and transparent. I have used many layers with several images, many of the dragon parts were scattered online everywhere. Anyway here is the final piece.

Final Design, Next part in the making

This is the next stage of my final design for underwater life theme. I have edited the dragon and split it down to many parts. I have also added a treasure chest and a sunken Pirate ship. I have spent alot of my time balencing the colours on the dragon, its not perfect yet but here is the next step closer to my final design for underwater theme. I hope you all like it (:.

Final Design of Underwater scene, First part of Development

This is the first part of my final underwater scene. So far I have managed to get a Leviathan and a Shark together into an ocean background. I have adjusted the Leviathans colour balence to make it fit in with the current ocean background. I have also used masks to erase the background of each image and finally this is my finished version of what I have typed up. Its a bit plain at the moment but more will be added into the scenery and maybe a few more fish/leviathans. I hope you all like this and the finished version will be much better!

Random Testing

I decided to test to see what I could include into the final project on photoshop. I thought i could add a fish with... well... Shoop Da Whoop and see what it comes up with. Here is the finished result.

Text Styles

Here are some text styles that we will be using for future photoshop texting.

Playing with font

This time on photoshop we have been learning how to input and customize font with one of our previous work pieces. I decided to do the half hippo half lizard creation. We clicked on History > Characters to bring up our options for font editing. We then clicked a new layer and selected the typinf button. This is my result plus I added in something of my own, I think it looks pretty cool. I hope you all like it (:.

Leopard skinned Rhino

Next we have managed to merge a leopards skin into a rhino. We used more layers to sort this out and lowered the opacity to allign the images together. We then smudged the leopards skin to match the size of the rhino and erased theskin around the horns and eyes. Mine didnt come out very well but here is my finished piece. It looks like it has zebra patterns and is extreamly smudged ):.

Half Hippo Half Lizard

Yes proberly the most random thing we have been assigned to do, was fun though. We had to upload a hippo's head and a Lizard, then merge the head of the hippo to the lizards body.To do this we used photoshop.. again... To match the colour of the lizards body to the hippo we had to do colour balence under the layer adjustments and sort out the levels. We also had to use quick mask and cut around the hippo's head to adjust the brightness and contrast. This is my finished version of the, what I call, Hippzard.

Update on Underwater plan

I have planned quite a bit with the Ribena and Leviathan mix and this is an idea of what i have came up with, this is just a rough plan but I hope this looks good enough to be turned into something.

Health and Safety

Here is when I took a Health and Safety test and here is my score. Im glad to say I have passed this quiz (:.

Underwater Mindmap

Here is the mind map we designed, we all took in turns in groups to help edit some more ideas. All the dirty ones have been deleted so keep that in mind.

Leviathans and Ribena

Today we have to get images of two random groups, randomly picked, i have to do Leviathans and... Ribena... great... im going to have to find a way to link them together. Should be fun.

This is a Leviathan known as Lagiacrus from monster Hunter Tri. Im going to do all the Leviathans from this game.

This is a great value pack of Ribena.

This is an Agnaktor. Yes I know its an underwater theme and its a fire Leviathan but since I need to do Ribena it will fit in because Agnaktors like Blackcurrent so meh it works.

This is a bottle of Ribena.

Now if im going to put this together should I do the Leviathans drinking the Ribena? Or maybe giving the Leviathans Ribena breath? I would like to see your ideas so comment away on what you think. Maybe even suggest new ideas (:.

Even more photoshop

Today we have done more with photoshop, including DPI (Dots Per Inch).Vector images work with lines, curves, shapes, points and polygons. This all works with computer mathematics and has been known to be used in very old gaming consoles.Vector images do not show any pixels so therefore they cannot be pixelated.

Pixel imagesare images with tiny squares all formed together to make one big image, if not used correctly then the image can become pixelated.

Hironobu Sakaguchi

Finally I’m going to write about the Japanese games designer Hironobu Sakaguchi. Sakaguchi is famous around the world for creating the Final Fantasy series. He has had a long gaming career with over 80 million gaming units sold worldwide. After he finished university he became a part-time employee of Square, a brand new company formed of Denyucha Electric Company by Masafumi Miyamoto. Square managed to become an independent company in 1986. After that he managed to become a full-time employee as the Director of Planning and Development. Unfortunately the first games that the company made were highly unsuccessful. Sakaguchi then decided to gamble the rest of Square’s money on one final attempt to make the next game so brilliant that it would save the company; this game is known as Final Fantasy. The game was released for the NES (or Nintendo Entertainment System) in Japan on 18th December 1987. After releasing Final Fantasy, the game became one of the most successful games released and under Sakaguchi’s watch, he decided to create sequels and spin offs of the Final Fantasy series. In 1991, due to the successful release and sales of Final Fantasy IV, he managed to become the Executive Vice President of Square. Followed by Final Fantasy V, he became president at the Square USA Company in 1995. The last Final Fantasy game Sakaguchi created was Final Fantasy IX. He was interviewed during the time and said that this is favourite Final Fantasy game he has created. Sakaguchi has also been known to help create other games such as Kingdom Hearts, Vagrant Story and Parasite Eve.
Sakaguchi was the third person to be included into the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences Hall of Fame on April 5th 2000. One of the reasons he attained his Hall of Fame status is because of the incredible amount of games he has sold and created and because he managed to save Square with their last gamble.

Satoru Iwata

Next I will be writing about Satoru Iwata. For the first step in his career after completing college he joined a company named HAL Laboratory for a full time job. In 1983 he became the company’s co-ordinator of software production. Satoru has helped to create several games while he worked at HAL Laboratory; some of these games were Balloon Fight, Earthbound and many of the Kirby games. Later on in his life in 1993 he became promoted as the president of HAL Laboratory. Later on in the year 2000 Iwata managed to take a position at Nintendo as the head of its corporate planning division. When the previous president Hiroshi Yamauchi retired on May 31st 2002, Satoru was named the fourth president of Nintendo and the first person to become president outside Yamauchi’s bloodline or through marriage. Even though he is president of Nintendo he still continues to help HAL Laboratory. It is more than likely that Satoru still works as an artist at HAL Laboratory, still helping with the Kirby series (designing current design and new characters for the Kirby series). The latest project known outside the Nintendo Company is the Nintendo Wii and the Nintendo DSI.  Satoru has also worked with The Legend of Zelda and the Mario series.
Satoru has also created, what I think is one of the best games ever created is the Super Smash Bros series. This game includes many characters over the years created by Nintendo varying from The Legend of Zelda to an old classic Kid Icarus. In the recent games Satoru has managed to borrow permission from Sega to use Sonic the Hedgehog and Konami to borrow Snake from Metal Gear Solid. Cleverly he borrowed these characters to improve the sales of the Super Smash Bros saga by including many more characters. Super Smash Bros is known to be one of the biggest selling games ever created.

Tokidoki

Tokidoki (which when translated from Japan means “sometimes”) is the Japanese style company created in the year 2005 by the Italian artist called Simone Legno along with his business partners, Pooneh Mohajer and ivan Arnold. The company has created many different products such as, footwear, small toys, jewellery, vinyl figures and t-shirts. The company has to be the closest to making authentic manga outside of Japan. Since launching, Tokidoki has created the Tokidoki for LeSportsac line of handbags in collaboration with LeSportsac (each bag comes with a Qee, a toy collaboration for Toy2R, inside carabiner on stretch cord and a ball chain).
The first print was introduced in spring 2006, originally named Tokidoki, but deemed by fans as '"The Original Print", which includes Sandy and her Cactus Friends, along with the Moofia minions. Since then many other characters have been released and featured on LeSportsac bags and the prints have also expanded to other merchandise such as jewellery. The Tokidoki for LeSportsac line of handbags have been highly sought after, with rare prints and bags reaching bids up to three or four times the retail price on eBay, leading to the production of many illegal attempts to copy the bags.
Tokidoki have created many characters that are now trademarked by Tokidoki. These characters include, Sandy, Sabochan, Mozzarella, Leche, Adios, Ciao Ciao, Skeletrino and Skeletrina, plus many more characters, some of these are the main sets but there is many more sets which their characters fall under. The company also includes many clothes such as t-shirts, hoodies and jackets made for men, women and children. They also include accessories such as jewellery, watches and belt buckles.
The company has been known to team up with other companies such as Levi’s, Skull Candy, New Era and many other companies. Tokidoki has been running for five years.

Shigeru Miyamoto

Shigeru Miyamoto is a Japanese video games designer and producer working for the gaming company Nintendo. Shigeru has created many of the biggest and most recognized games and characters such as, Mario, Donkey Kong, The Legend of Zelda, Star Fox and many other games, all exclusive to Nintendo consoles. Shigeru’s main job right now is managing NEAD (Nintendo Entertainment Analysis and Development) branch. Every game he has created has been seen on every Nintendo console made and even some of his games have been made for arcades in the early days, some have even become classics. Almost every game he has created that has been reviewed has received many good comments and usually recommended to play, all results in a high score.
Shigeru was the first person ever to create a game that includes saving the data as others used passwords or had to be restarted from the very beginning. The first game with the feature to save your progress is the Legend of Zelda on the Nintendo ( or in Japan known as the famicom (short for family computer)). When the Nintendo 64 was created, Shigeru released Super Mario 64 which became one of the biggest selling games of all time, shortly after that The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time was released which is the biggest selling Nintendo 64 game of all time.
Shigeru was honoured to be the first person to be inducted into the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences’ Hall of Fame. In 2008 he was top of the list at the Game Developers Choice awards with 1,766,424 votes. Along with a survey of game developers by the public, 30% chose Shigeru as their “ultimate Development Hero”. Shigeru was also the first interactive creator nominated for the highest recognition in the Spanish-speaking world, the Prince of Asturias Award.

Underwater scene

Today we have designed an underwater scene using photoshop again. This time we have used an outside scene, a picture of a shark and a picture of a plane submerged underwater. We have used many layers, masks and gradiant tools to complete this piece of work. We have also merged layers into one layer while working on this and mixing different shades of blue, one dark and one light with the gradiant tool to create the ocean scene. This is my finished version of the underwater scene.:

We also did the light shining by using the lasso polygonal tool and drew a triangle like shape. We then rounded the edges with the feather tool and lightened it with a white colour, finally i reduced the opacity setting.

Blue Orb

Today we have been using photoshop to recreate a special underwater effect step by step, today we have been focusing on the blue orb in the picture using photoshop to create the blue orb, we have started with the orb, then smudged it to create the effect.

Upon using photoshop we have been using different sorts of tools such as, smudge, paintbrush, Marquee tool,
Layers.pallet, History pallet.

Here are some examples of shortcuts discovered today:
Alt+Del = Fill foreground colour.
A = Cursor.
E = Eraser

Brush tool used different sized brushes with 75% strength
Smudge tool with higher strength includes more of a smudge effect.

This here is the finished result of the blue orb we have been making.

We decided to stretch the front and the sides of the orb to give it fins for more effect, we used the smudge command to do this again. Next we have decided to add more effect to the blue orb so we added more effects with the scatter brush We customized our brushes with the shape dynamics and the scattering effects, i increased the scatter and the jitter scales. I also added the fade effect. Here is the finished result.

After this we have decided to make a green orb the exact same way. We got rid of the black background to sort where to put the orbs. We then decided to darken the image and show the effects of the orbs by making the light bounce off her face. Shades of a lighter green and lighter blue have been used here. This is the final result.

Half way through doing this my computer crashed but i managed to recover the data in the end and catch up.
